Each piece is made by hand in small numbers, so we render it rather than photograph a duplicate. The image shows the form, the material, the finish and the proportion — it is not a photograph of the exact piece you will receive, and natural stone varies from one piece to the next. Write to us and we will photograph the actual piece in stock, with its weight and measurements, before you buy.
Botswana Agate Cube Bracelet
Asymmetric · Botswana Agate
Square beads that hold their shape on the wrist instead of spreading. Botswana agate is named for its only commercial source, and it is the most quietly subtle of the agates: grey, cream and faintly pink banding with none of the dye or drama of the more famous stones.
Botswana agate is named for its only commercial source, and it is the most quietly subtle of the agates: grey, cream and faintly pink banding with none of the dye or drama of the more famous stones. It is cut from nodules that can be half a metre across, which is why the beads on a strand can be matched closely.
Beads cut square with flat faces and softened edges. Squares sit against each other on a flat plane, so a cube strand holds its shape on the wrist where a round one spreads, and it shows more of the stone per bead than anything round.
Deliberately built off-centre, with the visual weight placed to one side of the wrist rather than at the middle. It is a composition rather than a pattern, so each strand is laid out by eye and no two come out the same.
Sizing: the strand is strung on a doubled elastic core with a knotted finish, and it is made in three lengths — a snug 16 cm, the standard 18 cm, and a loose 20 cm. Beads are graded by hand before stringing, so the strand you receive is matched for size and tone from the first bead to the last. Every bracelet is strung to order in small numbers; if you would like the exact strand photographed before it ships, ask and we will send you the picture.
Care: Agate is durable and takes everyday wear. Clean with water and a cloth.
