Lion Peak Longjing — Yuqian
Rain-before grade · picked 5–20 April
The grade most tea drinkers in China actually keep in the tin: a fortnight later than the famous pick, with more body and far less price.
Yuqian means "before the rain", the picking window that opens once the Qingming festival has passed. The leaf has had a fortnight more sun than the pre-Qingming pick, so the buds are fuller and the yield higher — which is why the grade costs noticeably less without being a lesser tea. What it trades away is the almost weightless delicacy of the earliest pick, and what it gains is body and a longer, nuttier finish.
Lion Peak Longjing itself comes from Lion Peak (Shifeng), West Lake, Hangzhou, Zhejiang, grown as longjing #43, at 280 m. This lot is that same tea, handled and graded as described above — the leaf, the mountain and the maker do not change, only the picking window and the price.

We dispatch within 48 hours of your order, from our warehouse in China, with tracking on every parcel.
We do not quote a delivery date. Once a parcel leaves us it is carried by an international courier and cleared by customs in your country, and a date we cannot control is a date we will not promise. The tracking number, which you get when the label is created, shows every scan to your door.
Shipping is complimentary on orders over CAD 79.00$; below that a flat CAD 9.50$ applies. HST (13%) is calculated at checkout. Duties and import taxes are the recipient's responsibility.
Unopened tins can be returned within 30 days for a full refund. If a tea is not to your taste, tell us — we would rather send you something you like than keep the money.
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, JCB, Diners Club and China UnionPay through our payment provider's local card gateway, protected by 3-D Secure 2 authentication. Your bank may ask you to confirm the payment in your banking app or with a one-time code.
