Black onyx is chalcedony, a form of quartz with microscopic fibres rather than crystals, which is why it polishes to a mirror without a grain. Most onyx in the trade is banded agate that has been dyed; the honest ones are cut from naturally black seams, which are scarcer and keep their colour rather than turning grey at the edges.

Beads cut square with flat faces and softened edges. Squares sit against each other on a flat plane, so a cube strand holds its shape on the wrist where a round one spreads, and it shows more of the stone per bead than anything round.

The strand is built in three repeating sections, divided by small spacers, so it reads as three bracelets stacked rather than one. It needs the beads sorted into three matched groups before anything is strung.

Sizing: the strand is strung on a doubled elastic core with a knotted finish, and it is made in three lengths — a snug 16 cm, the standard 18 cm, and a loose 20 cm. Beads are graded by hand before stringing, so the strand you receive is matched for size and tone from the first bead to the last. Every bracelet is strung to order in small numbers; if you would like the exact strand photographed before it ships, ask and we will send you the picture.

We do not quote a delivery date. Once a parcel leaves us it is carried by an international courier and cleared by customs in your country, and a date we cannot control is a date we will not promise. The tracking number, which you get when the label is created, shows every scan to your door.

Shipping is complimentary on orders over CAD 79.00$; below that a flat CAD 9.50$ applies. HST (13%) is calculated at checkout. Duties and import taxes are the recipient's responsibility.

Unopened tins can be returned within 30 days for a full refund. If a tea is not to your taste, tell us — we would rather send you something you like than keep the money.
