Carnelian is chalcedony coloured by iron oxide, and the tone runs from a clear orange to a deep blood red. Much of what is sold has been heat-treated to bring out the red, which is accepted in the trade and permanent. The finer beads are slightly translucent, so a strand picks up light rather than sitting flat against the wrist.

A true sphere, which is the hardest of the simple shapes to make properly: every bead has to be drilled through its centre or the strand will not hang straight, and a wall of spheres shows every mismatch in size. Grading a round strand is most of its cost.

A single unbroken circle of matched beads, with no centre, no graduation and no charm. It is the plainest thing here and the least forgiving of them all, because a strand with nothing to look at has to be perfect: one bead out of size or tone is visible from across a room.

Sizing: the strand is strung on a doubled elastic core with a knotted finish, and it is made in three lengths — a snug 16 cm, the standard 18 cm, and a loose 20 cm. Beads are graded by hand before stringing, so the strand you receive is matched for size and tone from the first bead to the last. Every bracelet is strung to order in small numbers; if you would like the exact strand photographed before it ships, ask and we will send you the picture.

We do not quote a delivery date. Once a parcel leaves us it is carried by an international courier and cleared by customs in your country, and a date we cannot control is a date we will not promise. The tracking number, which you get when the label is created, shows every scan to your door.

Shipping is complimentary on orders over CAD 79.00$; below that a flat CAD 9.50$ applies. HST (13%) is calculated at checkout. Duties and import taxes are the recipient's responsibility.

Unopened tins can be returned within 30 days for a full refund. If a tea is not to your taste, tell us — we would rather send you something you like than keep the money.
