Each piece is made by hand in small numbers, so we render it rather than photograph a duplicate. The image shows the form, the material, the finish and the proportion — it is not a photograph of the exact piece you will receive, and natural stone varies from one piece to the next. Write to us and we will photograph the actual piece in stock, with its weight and measurements, before you buy.
Green Sandalwood Faceted Bracelet
Classic Orbit · Green Sandalwood
Hand-ground facets that catch light a smooth bead would pass straight through. Green sandalwood is a dense, slow-growing wood with a pale olive cast and a scent that is much lighter and greener than the cream-coloured sandalwood used for incense.
Green sandalwood is a dense, slow-growing wood with a pale olive cast and a scent that is much lighter and greener than the cream-coloured sandalwood used for incense. Its colour deepens with exposure to light and air, so a strand bought this year is noticeably darker in three.
Each bead is ground with flat facets around its circumference, cut by hand on a lap. Faceting costs more work than any other shape here and it earns it on a translucent stone, where the flat planes catch and return light that a smooth bead would pass straight through.
A single unbroken circle of matched beads, with no centre, no graduation and no charm. It is the plainest thing here and the least forgiving of them all, because a strand with nothing to look at has to be perfect: one bead out of size or tone is visible from across a room.
Sizing: the strand is strung on a doubled elastic core with a knotted finish, and it is made in three lengths — a snug 16 cm, the standard 18 cm, and a loose 20 cm. Beads are graded by hand before stringing, so the strand you receive is matched for size and tone from the first bead to the last. Every bracelet is strung to order in small numbers; if you would like the exact strand photographed before it ships, ask and we will send you the picture.
Care: The fragrance fades as the surface oils dry. Keep it from water and it will hold for years, longer in a sealed box.
